Policy of National Journal of Medical and Health Sciences

Aim and Scope
National Journal of Medical and Health Sciences (NJMHS) is a multidisciplinary journal. NJMHS is an official publication of university of Sargodha and is published biannually under the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at Sargodha Medical College, Sargodha, Pakistan. It publishes original qualitative and quantitative research articles / review articles / case reports / short communications / systematic reviews / letter to the editors and audit reports related to all fields of Medical and Health Sciences. The Journal has an effective system of article submission overseen by the well qualified editorial team. NJMHS follows guideline provided by International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

We are accepting high-quality articles to publish in the fields of General Medicine, General Surgery, Gynae& Obstetrics, Pediatrics Medicine, Eye, ENT, Cardiology, Radiology, Anesthesia, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic, Urology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology & Genetics, Pharmacology, Medicinal Plants & Phytochemistry, Pharmacy & Nutriceutics, Pathology, Microbiology, Psychiatry, Clinical Psychology & Behavioral Sciences, Community Medicine, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Medical Education and other fields of Medical and Health Sciences.

Review Policy
Journal of Medical and Health Sciences (NJMHS) follows the following procedure for peer review:
• All the submissions are initially screened for suitability of publishing in NJMHS.
• Selected articles are sent to one local professional and one foreign professional for reviewing the articles.
• Comments and suggestions by local and foreign reviewers are sent to author(s) for revising the manuscripts accordingly within specified time period.
• Articles are rejected on the basis of reviewers’ comments, lacking originality, lacking interest of readers, scientific flaws and beyond the scope of NJMHS.
• Reviewing process may take longer time as it depends on reviewers’ reports.

Selection of Reviewers
NJMHS selects those reviewers who are qualified, experienced, expert and well known in their field. NJMHS discourages reviewers who are biased, non-serious and do not provide potential, constructive and specific feedback on articles sent to them. NJMHS acquires consent from reviewers before sending them articles.

Peer Review Process:
National Journal of Medical and Health Sciences (NJMHS) is a peer-review journal. All articles submitted to the Journal need to pass the review process before publishing. Peer review is important to maintain the quality and integrity of scientific and scholarly research with the aims to evaluate the quality, validity, and originality of the articles. In the review process, firstly the articles will be scrutinised and evaluated by the editorial team, if it is according to the scope of NJMHS and considered acceptable for publication to forward it two reviewers for blind peer review. It is ensured that the review process would be without potential conflicts of interest. The peer-review process is double-blinded. The reviewers will return their recommendations and reports to the Section Editor, providing general comments to the editor and both general and specific comments to the author(s). Constructive comments that might help the authors improve their work are passed on anonymously. After that, the editor assesses them collectively, and then makes a decision, either on his or her own or in consultation with other editors. The final decision on acceptability for publication lies with the Editors-in-Chief. The revised manuscripts may be subject to further peer review if appropriate.

Originality of Manuscripts
Journal of Medical and Health Sciences (NJMHS) accepts and considers manuscripts having following characteristics:
• Content of articles should be original material produced by author(s).
• Article should not be submitted for publishing elsewhere or in any other journal.
• Author(s) have to provide after signing an undertaking that material of the article is not copied from any source and material included in the article is the contribution of the author(s) and is being duly acknowledged.
• For any type of plagiarism in the manuscripts, the author(s) will be considered the sole responsible.
• Articles will be considered for publishing after filling and sending the originality and authorship certificates.
• In case of any violation of policy rules, the managing editor reserves the rights to take legal actions accordingly.

Plagiarism
• NJMHS submissions are screened for plagiarism using "Turnitin" as per Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) policy.
• Similarity Index by Turnitin must be <19%, and from a single source, it must be <5%.
• Authors must not use the words, figures, or ideas without proper attribution.
• All sources must be adequately cited where needed.
• Manuscripts that are found to have been plagiarised, whether published or unpublished, will be rejected and the authors may incur sanctions. Any published articles must need to be corrected or retracted accordingly.
• The author(s) of submitted manuscripts or published articles that have fabricated or falsified the results, including the any sort of manipulation of images, may incur sanctions, and published articles must be retracted or corrected where applicable.
